Erik H. Gordon

Erik H. Gordon is an American philanthropist, investor, and film and television producer. He is the CEO of ErGo Ventures LLC, a private equity and venture capital investment company.

In 2010, Erik Gordon co-founded Insurgent Media with the goal of supporting and developing character and issue-driven documentaries and television content. Through Insurgent, Erik has produced a number of films and television shows. He has been nominated for two Emmy Awards.

Insurgent Media has developed a slate of critically acclaimed projects including the Academy Award winning “The Cove”, Netflix Original “Mission Blue”, “Woody Allen: A Documentary” for PBS American Masters, SXSW Grand Jury prize film “Beware of Mr. Baker”, Discovery Original “Racing Extinction” and, most recently, the Sundance Premiere of “Sky Ladder”. With offices in New York and Los Angeles, Insurgent continues to finance film and television projects driven by edgy subject material and talent.

Erik is active in a number of philanthropic and charitable organizations, with a particular focus on addressing climate change, improving education, and implementing large-scale social change. Erik was a founding supporter and member of the board of directors of Mission Blue, a non-profit organization led by legendary oceanographer Sylvia Earle.

He currently devotes the bulk of his time in the development of a major new philanthropic and cross-sector social change initiative, Quorum, to be launched in 2019. Quorum will work to address some of the most critically destabilizing threats we face as a nation, including the global climate crisis, pervasive income inequality, pandemic disease, poverty, health care and education, through a collaborative effort to reinvigorate civil society.

Erik was born in New York City in 1973. He was named a Presidential Scholar in 1991 and received a bachelor’s degree from Harvard College in 1995, graduating with honors. A longtime champion for the welfare of animals, Erik lives in New York with his dog, Jake, and his cat, Chaucer.
